The idea was to bring the outside world into the shop. A map of the local area provided the basis for the floor pattern, which continues up the walls to form the shelving system. Segments corresponding to parks on the map are elevated from the floor and used as units for displaying merchandise. Read full story » Neo Rococo is furniture of the 21st century but with the visual quality attained from an ornamented style such as Rococo. An update of the shape itself through technology. A pixelisation of of original blueprints from the Rococo period results in truly modern shapes, but lets your eye rest in the safety of something familiar. A future with tradition. A piece of furniture where length and shape can modified. The parts are held together with a simple joint. They cannot stand on their own, but together they create a piece of furniture which adapts to various rooms and spaces. It can even be adjusted to variable ground levels. You can use a few of the parts to assemble a stool, or you can use many parts to create a bench that stretches out along the whole length of a corridor. Or the length of a garden. The Skew Bookcase consists of identical modular components that are stacked facing alternate directions to create sloping shelves. To assemble it you just rotate the parts and place them on top of each other. Sloping shelves mean you do not have to arrange the shelves in various heights as with ordinary bookcases.
